What size air conditioner do I need?

Yes, it is a very common question asked when considering a new air conditioner for your room or entire home. Today there are many brands, styles and models available. Fortunately, prices are becoming more affordable and product warranty are mostly 5 years. Good and reputable system installers can install a wall split system from approx. $ 450 - $650 plus electricals. Switchboard and power lead in cable upgrades may be required, depending on the age of your home and the number of air conditioners already connected. Usually under ceiling and cassette type units require more installation work and materials and install costs can range from $950 - $1200. This will depend on factors such as access to ceiling space, distance between indoor and outdoor unit, size of unit. Some of these units due to their cooling capacity may require 3 phase power. Some 10 kW Cooling capacity units are able to operate on a 240 volt power supply.

Multi head units can provide a solution when conditioning 2, 3 or 4 bedrooms. These units can also cater for a family room and bedrooms combination. The use of a single outdoor unit to operate multiple indoor units save space and electrical connection and some installation time.
